Today I accidentally skipped breakfast. That is a lie, you don’t accidentally skip breakfast. For most people at least 15 years of their life was spent having their mother shove a pop tart or biscuit in their mouth while they run out the door to catch the bus. Breakfast is the same time every day, it is always there, you don’t forget it. I was lazy, got up late, and just said screw it, I don’t have time for it. Which is something I shouldn’t have done, but I did. Getting 400-500 calories each morning is something I should do, it helps keep me from walking down to the coffee shop and getting a bagel or something worse (read choco taco).

So I made it through the day without the breakfast, had a good lunch, then wanted to go out for Dinner. Jennie and I ended up going to Logan’s Roadhouse. We love that place, she always gets the same thing (Kickin Chicken Salad) and I usually get the Logan’s Grilled Chicken. That is Chicken, Rice Pilaf and 2 sides. *SKKKKKIRTTTTT* Yeah two sides. Who needs two sides, I have a giant piece of chicken, a cup or so of rice, do I really need the fries and a baked potato. The answer is no. So I just got a sweet potato as one side and give Jennie some apples. The daily plate had data for the chicken (~288 calories) they however did not for the sweet potato and rice pilaf. When that is the case I usually just do some substitutions and error on the side of more than probably what I actually ate. I went with the rice pilaf from Red Lobster and just said 2 servings (~280 calories) and 1.5 servings of a Dole sweet potato (~195 calories). It also came with their peppercorn Parmesan dressing on the side (.25 servings or ~40 calories). So all in all around 800 calories for dinner at Logan’s. Is that number exact, no, but it is close enough where I think it is correct.

This weekend is my first anniversary and my wife and I headed to Nashville. Special occasions mean lots of special times to absolutely destroy the work I have done so far. Today we went to one of my favorite places to eat in Nashville, Calypso Cafe. This is a Cuban type restaurant that serves rotisserie chicken. If you can get the 1/4 or 1/2 chicken skinless, all white, then it isn’t terrible for you (~400 calories just for the 1/2 chicken), but pick the sides wisely. Black beans, long grain rice, fruit, or the sweet potatoes would be decent choices. My dinner was probably around 850 calories.

Tonight I went to BW3 for dinner with my buddy David to watch the Cavs vs Magic NBA Playoff game. The game was pretty good, but the food wasn’t that bad either. About the only thing that I knew was safe (meaning not terribly bad for me to eat) were their naked tenders. This appetizer is 6 grilled chicken strips and, according to daily plate, is about 260 calories.

One complaint I have with most restaurants is that unless they are fast food they don’t have nutrition information. Honestly all places that sell food should be required to have something available for general information. I know many places say that since they get their food locally, that they can’t really tell you what the nutrition value is, but that is crap. They can at least provide something, chicken is chicken, beef is beef and vegetables are vegetables. They have a baseline and they should have it available.
